Roulette Equipment: Roulette Wheel

The perfectly balanced American Roulette wheel has 38 identical slots, individually numbered from 0, 00, 1 through 36. All the numbers are represented on the betting layout. Each game begins with the dealer spinning the wheel in one direction. Then the dealer rolls a little ivory ball along the inner edge of the wheel in the opposite direction. A few moments after the spin the ball begins to lose speed. It moves among the slots and finally lands in one of the numbered slots. This number, in which the ball has landed, is a winner number for that game. Up to 90 games are usually played within an hour. Numbers on the wheel are not arranged consecutively. By design, they alternate between red and black and exactly opposite each other number is the corresponding higher and lower number.

The game of Roulette has the house edge of 5.26%. In comparison with American Roulette the house edge in European Roulette is only 2.70% or even a little bit lower. In some casinos En Prison rule can be offered. The principle of this rule is that when a zero or double zero occurs, all even- money bets are determined by the next spin.
