Roulette Layout Overview. The European wheel - also known as the Single Zero roulette or sometimes French Roulette is very similar to the American wheel.
The European wheel has only a single zero while the American one has a single zero and a double zero, and that is main difference between them.
The European table is more beautiful in symmetry while the American table is more practical during play because the red/black and odd/even are placed right next to each other, and the first18/last18 betting spots are placed right next to the single numbers.
Thanks to the single zero the European roulette players have better odds than the American roulette players.
American roulette wheel consists of 38 numbered slots: numbers 1 to 36, a zero, and a double zero. The betting layout contains every individual number and a host of "outside" or combinations of numbers. After the players make their bets the dealer spins the wheel and a ball and after several seconds the ball will land in one of the numbered slots.

The world 'roulette' means 'a small wheel' in French. Blaise Pascal invented the original version of the game in the 17th century. Frenchmen Francois and Louis Blanc invented the single "0" roulette game in 1842. The game wasn't then very popular in France as any form of gambling was considered illegal, but Roulette was well-known in Germany and Hamburg. Later the game of Roulette was brought back to France and the Prince of Monaco loved this game a lot. The game of Roulette was brought to the USA at the beginning of the 19th century. Some additional features were deleted and the game got a double zero back. The game became popular in the old west of America.

Some dealers are so experienced that they release the ball with the same steed from spin to spin. It is called Dealer Signature. As long as there is little or no deflection from the metal stops on the roulette wheel it is possible to predict where the ball will drop. If a number repeats often within 100 spins you may have found a biased wheel that can turn the house advantage around to your favor. The biased wheel gives you an opportunity to overcome the house’s advantage. You must buy in chips before playing roulette and exchange the colored chips for regular casino chips when leaving the Roulette table. Never make 5 number bets as they have the least profitable payback. The house advantage on a 5 number bet is a whopping 7. 89 percent. If you have a choice play the European Roulette as the odds are more in your favor. When playing European Roulette don’t forget about the Surrender option. When playing any game you must always stick to your own bank roll.
